| Margalló is the name of an indigenous Mediterranean plant
whose habitat is perfectly suited to the harshness of the barren,
rocky soils in the Baix Penedès and Garraf region. The plant
reflects the personality of this wine and the terrain that gave
rise to it. This is a Mediterranean wine: concentrated and with
plenty of character from the harsh terrain; expressive, elegant
and complex from the region’s outstanding climatic properties
and the limited production of the vineyards from which it originates.
Vineyards: Originating from our vineyards al Mas Vilella and Finca
Els Camps. We also select part of the grape harvest from other
high quality vineyards, especially Ull de Llebre.
Varieties: Ull de Llebre (“Tempranillo”) 60% Cabernet
Sauvignon (20%) and Merlot (20%).
Winemaking process: Manual harvest. Manual unloading which allows
grape selection and leaf removal. Controlled fermentation in stainless
steel tanks at 25ºC. Maceration: 20 days. Cask ageing: 12
months in French oak of 2 years old). Bottling May 2005.
Tasting notes: Intense, brilliant cherry red colour. Purplish rim.
Excellent depth of colour. Persistent legs. Complex and very elegant
aroma, dominated by red fruits, spices, tobacco and mineral notes.
Elegant and well-integrated wood. Structured in the mouth, very
expressive, persistent and mature tannins, long aftertaste.
Serving temperature: 16-18º C.
Evolution: Can be enjoyed until 2011 or 2012
