This wine is notable for its exceptional personality, thanks to
the characteristics of the estate from which it originates, work
carried out in the vineyards and at the cellar and the enormous
potential of the predominant variety (Cabernet Sauvignon). It is
characterised by its mature, Mediterranean nature.
Varieties: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Vineyard: Located in Mas Vilella, La Bisbal del Penedès,
at an altitude of 250 metres. The vines are 17 years old and vine
yield is very low (3,000 – 3,500 kilos per hectare). The
terrain is extremely poor, very stony and calcareous with a sandy
texture. This wine is a powerful reflection of the harsh terrain.
In these conditions, Cabernet Sauvignon becomes warm, complex and
Mediterranean.
The vines are trained to a height of two metres to ensure greater
foliar exposure and improve photosynthesis as well as encouraging
fuller grape ripening by giving them more space and sun.
Winemaking process: The trailer is unloaded manually for better
selection, rejecting immature clusters and leaves. The grapes are
crushed and macerated for 20 days before being aged for 13 months
mainly new French oak barrels.
Bottling: June 2005.
Tasting notes: The complexity, strength and elegance of this wine
are outstanding. Aromas of black fruits, cocoa, menthol, bay and
forest undergrowth. Wide, balanced and silky in the mouth with
a long aftertaste.
Serving temperature: 16-18º C.
Evolution: Can be enjoyed until 2013-2015
Label: Depicts a cartwheel as a rural symbol linked to the farmhouse
image.
